The main conference venue for the 13th International Metropolis Conference is the World Conference Center Bonn (WCCB), which is located in the former Government district of Bonn, by the Rhine River. The Conference Secretariat and Registration Desk is located in the WCCB entrance lobby.
The conference venue is the former German Federal Government Parliament Building. Due to its great historical significance, it is a protected building. Eating and drinking is not permitted in the plenary rooms, and smoking is strictly prohibited inside the Conference Centre.

Cologne-Bonn Airport (CGN)

The Airport Shuttle Bus runs between the Cologne-Bonn Airport , Terminal 2 / ground level / D and Bonn Central Station (Bonn Hauptbahnhof) every 20-30 minutes on weekdays, and at half-hourly intervals on weekends. Tickets are available onboard the bus.
The Cologne-Bonn Airport is the nearest airport to Bonn.

Düsseldorf Airport (DUS)

Distance: 85 km
The Sky Train takes passengers from all terminals to the Düsseldorf Airport Railway Station. From there, trains run to Bonn Central Station (Bonn Hauptbahnhof) every hour, 51 min past the hour (i.e. 8:51, 9:51)

Frankfurt Airport (FRA)

Distance: 170 km
From Frankfurt Airport to Bonn Central Station, take the High Speed Intercity Express (ICE) to Bonn/Siegburg (approx. 40 min), and change there to the Telekom Express tram line 66 (approx.25 min).
The High Speed Intercity Express (ICE) train to Bonn/Siegburg runs from the Frankfurt Airport Long Distance Railway station ("Frankfurt Flughafen Fernbahnhof") located in the AIRail Terminal, next to Terminal 1. The Long Distance Railway Station is also linked to Terminal 2 via buses and the Sky Line. Follow the signs to the Long-Distance Train Station ("Frankfurt Flughafen Fernbahnhof").
Note: Make sure not to go to the Airport Regional Train Station, as these trains go to Frankfurt City only.
The trains leave from the Long-Distance Train Station between 5:00 and 21:00 every hour at 8 or 9 minutes past the hour, e.g. 11.08, 12.09, etc.
Tickets for the ICE train can be purchased at the train station, or booked with your flight with most airline companies. If you book the ticket via an airline company, please specify your destination as Bonn/Siegburg. (Some airline booking systems send you misleadingly to Cologne, which is 25 km away from Bonn. From Cologne to Bonn, you would have to take another train, which requires an additional ticket of about 10 EUR.)
From Bonn/Siegburg to Bonn Central Station, take the Telekom Express tram 66 (one level down, tram leave in one direction only). Step off at Bonn Central Station (Bonn Hauptbahnhof). Tickets are available at the Bonn/Siegburg Station. If you have booked a hotel through the Metropolis Conference online booking system, a printed copy of your booking confirmation also functions as a pass for the Bonn public transportation, including the Telekom Express.

Should you like to take a taxi from Bonn/Siegburg to Bonn Central Station, a ride costs on average 24 Euro (payable only in cash). If you need a receipt, ask for a 'Quittung' (pronounced: 'Kvittoong').
BONN PUBLIC TRANSPORT
From Bonn Central Station (Bonn Hauptbahnhof), take the Underground lines 16 or 63 direction Bonn-Bad Godesberg or Line 66 direction Ramersdorf/Bad Honnef to the station "Heussallee/Museumsmeile". Exit "Heussallee" station in the direction of "Bundeshaus". Follow the "Heussallee" street to the "Görresstrasse" (150 m). The World Conference Center Bonn (WCCB) will be on your left.
You can also take bus 610 direction "Bad Godesberg/Rheinallee". Step off at the stop "Deutsche Welle" and follow the signs to the World Conference Center Bonn (WCCB).

If you have booked accommodation through the Metropolis Conference online hotel booking system, a copy of your booking confirmation, functions as a pass for public transportation.
Tickets for Bonn public transportation can otherwise be purchased via ticket machines at most stops or onboard the tram/underground/bus.

TAXI SERVICE
Taxis are available at airports, railway stations and in front of the WCCB. Taxis can also be requested by phone: +49 (0) 228/55 55 55. It is not recommended to take taxis from Frankfurt and Düsseldorf Airport to Bonn.
Price: approx. 2.20 EUR per km
A taxi from the Bonn Central Station to the WCCB, costs approximately 10 Euros.
CAR PARKING
Parking facilities at the World Conference Center Bonn are very limited. Only a few parking spaces can be found within the residential area surrounding the conference venue. Participants are kindly advised to use public transportation or a taxi service to reach the conference area. Public transportation (buses/underground/tram) runs frequently as described above.
CLIMATE INFORMATION
The weather in October in Germany, is rather unpredictable. The temperature can range between 7 and 17 degree Celsius. It is thus recommended that you prepare for sunny as well as cloudy, rainy and cold weather.
MEDICAL SERVICES
Medical services will be available on-site on an emergency basis only. Please contact the Information Desk at the WCCB in case of emergency. In cases of emergency outside the Conference Center please call the ambulance on 112 (free call). A private medical insurance is strongly recommended, as all expenses for medical care will be the responsibility of the patient. All German pharmacies (Apotheke) provide addresses and details of pharmaceutical services available outside regular opening hours (10:00 – 20:00, local time on weekdays).
